The MSCI GDP Weighted Indices are designed to reflect the size of a country's economy (or GDP) rather than the size of its equity market.

At the annual rebalance, each country in an MSCI GDP Weighted Index is weighted according to its GDP figures from the previous year, tilting the index towards countries with relatively higher nominal GDP.
