MSCI in Practice: Net Zero series

In an effort to shift to a less carbon intensive global economy, governments and society are increasingly demanding a target of net zero emissions by 2050 and companies are announcing decarbonization or ‘net-zero’ commitments. Ultimately capital markets are an essential force to drive the transition to net-zero with concerted action from all participants, ranging from a reallocation of capital by asset owners, to effective channeling of funds by asset managers, insurers, and banks to greener investments and innovation.

In this introductory level In Practice Series focused on the journey to net zero, MSCI will both define and explore a variety of practical applications utilizing our data and tools once in the hands of the world’s leading financial institutions as they seek to tackle the issue of climate change on the road to net zero. Please select the session corresponding to your institutions’ profile.

Capital markets are an essential player in the transition to a low-carbon economy and investment managers play a key role in asset allocation. The ability to launch new funds and adapt to shifting client demands and mandates allow managers the flexibility to adapt their portfolios to net-zero. However, the metrics needed to achieve this objective can be complicated in light of slow global progress towards decarbonization. Hear from Royal London Asset Management, a Net-Zero Asset Manager Alliance member, about their net-zero journey.

July 13 - From commitment to implementation - The Asset Owner journey
TIME DETAILS
10:00 a.m. EDT New York

Commitments to bring down carbon emissions to zero by 2050 are gathering momentum in response to the climate emergency. Asset owners have led the way under the banner of the Net Zero Alliance, and committed to decarbonize the global economy through allocation targets and net-zero investments.

In this webinar we aim to shed some light on this initiative for asset owners who are considering or have embarked on their net-zero journey, and are grappling with the implementation of a net-zero strategy.

We will be joined by the Church of England who will share its perspective on how to reach net-zero across asset classes, particularly public equities; its experience in asset manager benchmarking and engagement; and the challenges laying ahead.

Speakers:
Maria Lilli, MSCI
Anja Ludzuweit, MSCI
Lev Soynov, MSCI
Roger Urwin, Willis Towers Watson
