MSCI emerging and frontier markets indexes

The MSCI Emerging Markets Indexes represent large-, mid-small- cap across Emerging Markets (EM) countries. From just 10 countries in 1988 representing less than 1% of world market capitalization to 24 countries representing 13% of world market capitalization, today the MSCI Emerging Markets Index can be segmented by regions and market segments/sizes.

The MSCI Frontier Markets Indexes include large-, mid-small- cap, and provide broad representation of the equity opportunity set while taking investability requirements into consideration within each market. The MSCI Frontier Markets Indexes can be segmented by size, sector and geography, allowing for consistent global views and cross regional comparisons. MSCI classifies 32 countries as Frontier Markets, 23 of which are included in the MSCI Frontier Markets Index.
