August 2026 Index Review

Chart  •  August 19, 2026

Source: MSCI Index data as of August 13, 2026. Regional figures sum to the MSCI ACWI IMI™ total. Past performance — whether actual, backtested or simulated — is no indication or guarantee of future performance.

The global equity universe will end the month with fewer constituents overall but more in the Americas. The August 2026 Index Review will add 184 constituents and delete 279 from the MSCI ACWI IMI™, for a net decrease of 95 constituents. The Asia-Pacific region will account for more than the entire net decline, losing a net 102 companies, while EMEA will lose 18 and the Americas will gain 25.

Many of the changes reflect companies moving between size segments or no longer meeting free float-adjusted market-cap requirements, rather than market moves. The changes will bring the number of constituents in the MSCI ACWI IMI™, which covers approximately 99% of the global equity investment opportunity set, from 8,176 to 8,081 as of the close of Aug. 31, 2026. For investors, index reviews help ensure that indexes continue to reflect markets as they evolve.
