MSCI ESG Research is delighted to host the launch of the first Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW) on February 25, 2013, in London.
Farm animal welfare is an increasingly important issue for investors in the food industry. Regulation (in particular within the European Union), consumer concern, pressure from animal welfare NGOs, and media concerns about poor corporate practices have seen investors start to pay much greater attention to the issue of farm animal welfare, both as a business risk and/or opportunity, and as a measure of companies' quality of management of environmental and social issues more generally.
On 25 February 2013, the first benchmark of how global food companies are responding to the risks and opportunities presented by farm animal welfare will be launched. The benchmark provides a comprehensive assessment of the state of play, identifying leading companies and areas of best practice, as well as areas where there are significant weaknesses in companies' responses.
