The Tipping Point: Global Trends in Corporate Gender Diversity, Pay Parity and the Talent Pool
A growing body of research suggests that having three women on a corporate board represents a “tipping point” in terms of influence, which is reflected in financial performance. Superior performance may derive from better decision making by a more diverse group of directors, but may also be tied to greater gender diversity among senior leadership and the rest of the work force. Globally we found that large multinational companies with three or more women directors had more women in senior leadership and were four times as likely to have female CEOs. In the U.S., analysis of 2015 compensation for these female executives at the top suggests a possible shift towards earnings parity, however inequalities persist in how underlying pay package components are awarded in comparison to male peers.
