Rumi Mahmood

Rumi leads the Institute’s work on capital markets and applied finance, shaping its research agenda and engagement with policymakers, academics and market participants. He previously led fund research within MSCI Sustainability & Climate Research. Before MSCI, Rumi oversaw fund research and managed active and passive portfolios for institutional and retail investors at J.P. Morgan. He also worked in fund structuring at BNY and as a petroleum engineer at Shell, focusing on North Sea carbon capture and storage. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Manchester and a master’s in artificial intelligence from the University of Texas at Austin.
