Improvements in ESG risk-mitigation practices have been mixed among issuers in Latin America and other emerging markets over the past decade. While companies in developed markets have exhibited a steady trend toward higher ratings, in emerging markets the trend has been slower, or has even reversed at times, with a much higher proportion of lagging ratings. Latin America and its constituent markets have shown mixed success as well.
