Cecilia Aza

Cecilia is a Managing Director and the Corporate Secretary of MSCI. She also serves as the Chief of Staff to the CEO.

She joined MSCI in 2007, shortly after MSCI’s IPO and helped establish, and then lead, the legal department’s role in advising on SEC and NYSE reporting and disclosure, equity issuance, debt-related and U.S. corporate secretarial matters. Her responsibilities include advising the Board, the CEO and CFO as well as the finance, HR, marketing and investor relations functions on the relevant legal and regulatory requirements of public companies. In her role as Corporate Secretary, she helps to ensure that MSCI’s governance structure provides the appropriate level of MSCI Board and Committee oversight of ESG-related matters.

Prior to joining MSCI, Cecilia worked as a corporate securities lawyer at the law firms of Thelen, Reid & Priest LLP and Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP, advising public companies with respect to SEC and NYSE reporting obligations and public and private securities offerings.

Cecilia has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.
