While some investors may question the implications of climate change on their portfolios, the 2017 U.S. hurricane season left no doubt about the financial costs associated with flooding and severe storms, regardless of the underlying cause. In this study, we provide an overview of exposure to flood risks in hurricane-prone U.S. states using flood hazard zones designated by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and 13,600 reported facility locations owned by companies in the MSCI ACWI Investable Market Index (IMI).
