Industrial and residential sectors led copy
2020 saw total returns moderate across all major property types, though some were more affected than others. Hotels and retail assets were particularly hard hit by lockdowns and social distancing and so recorded negative total returns. Industrial assets, by contrast, were more resilient and only experienced a modest fall in total return. In 2021 total returns bounced back for all major property types but it was the industrial and residential sectors that posted the strongest returns.
