Focus on FAANGs: Privacy and data security in the tech industry

In March 2018, the Cambridge Analytica scandal revealed serious shortcomings in Facebook’s user data oversight and security controls, setting off the beginning of significant public and regulatory scrutiny on the company. With the growing size and reach of the technology industry and particularly the so-called FAANG stocks (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google), it’s more and more critical for institutional investors to better understand how these companies are exposed to and managing privacy and data security risks.
During this webinar, we will dive into the ESG characteristics, including data and privacy security exposure and risk management, of the technology industry with a focus on the FAANG stocks. We will review key considerations in differentiating between these companies including corporate governance, regulatory environment, and performance analysis including the financially relevant implications of these issues. Lastly, we will hear from Martin Kremenstein, senior managing director at Nuveen, for insight into their approach and how privacy and data security risks factor into investment decision making.

AGENDA
• How do we assess the privacy and data security key issue?
• Focus on the FAANGs: Are privacy risks heightened for these companies?
• A Risky Bet: How are the FAANGs valued in the market?
• How is Nuveen considering privacy and data security in its decision making?
